Quick Cabbage Rolls
The secret is that the cabbage isn't rolled at all!


  1 pound hamburger
1/2 cup uncooked rice
1 egg
2 teaspoons garlic powder or 2 teaspoons ready minced garlic
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
2 16 oz cans tomato sauce
1 medium head cabbage


  Wash and core the cabbage, chop into 8 wedges and then cut each wedge in half across the middle. Mix hamburger with rice, egg, garlic, salt and pepper. Make meat into 2" meatballs. In large stock pot, put 1 cup water and 1 can of tomato sauce in bottom. Place a layer of meat balls in pan, cover with a layer of cabbage, seperating the cabbage leaves as you go. Repeat with meat and cabbage layers until done, Add rest of tomato sauce and additional cup of water. Add salt and pepper to pot if desired. Cover and bring to boil, reduce heat and simmer until cabbage is tender and meat is cooked through, Approx 20- 25 min.Check as the mixture cooks, you may need to add more water.
